Confessions of a dangerous mind.

What, boo Jones has escaped??? (Inside joke) Does this look like an escape artist? I think not!

The day we almost didn't move....
Monday, March 24th, 2008. It's a normal slow boat to China, ship your belongings to England sort of morning. The movers show up and start packing. I'm working downstairs, John is working upstairs when I'm confronted with the question of the century.."Do you know where boo is?" So, like any mother, I start asking the movers if they have seen my child. And let me confirm, that I did type child. This dog, if you were unsure is my baby. Bizarre as that sounds we don't have the normal, hairless, two legged kind that all of our friends seem to be popping out. Not that we don't love them all but you'd have to be a dog lover to understand.
So, the response that every mother wants to hear is NOT...."I saw her running around in the back yard." WHAT??? In the words of my favorite neighbor Roberto.."the back yard??? We're not in Kentucky." or my girlfriend Jen.."back yard? Like a ghetto baby?"
We live in Chicago, 8 million people and cement alleys for back yards and a dog on a mission. Not a good combination, nor a way to start your trip.
Zoom, zoom, zoom....

Around the world in 28 days.

So the next time your feeling sorry for yourself and how busy you are fly in my tail winds.
Chicago, U.S. - San Francisco, U.S. - Seoul, S. Korea - Frankfurt, Germany - Thessaloniki, Greece - Frankfurt, Germany - Johannesburg, S. Africa - Durban, S. Africa - Cape Town, S. Africa - Johannesburg, S. Africa - London, England - Moscow, Russia - London, England - Chicago, U.S.

I've got carpel tunnel just typing all those places but I loved every frequent flier mile of it.

So tired, so very tired.

Some of you have heard this story, some have not.

One of my first meetings was with a customer from S. Korea that met me at my office in Hereford. My office is three hours from London. As you can imagine the lines of business are very jagged as you travel from country to country.

The customer arrived in London, Heathrow after a flight from Italy to take a 3 hour cab ride to my office. Upon arrival the MD (managing director/owner) of the company and her entourage of two met me in my office. They sat down and employee 1 proceeded to tell me how very tired Ms. MD was, so very tired, very very tired. She's very old and soooo very tired! Please consider that Ms. MD is all of 52. They asked for a 30 minute rest period before beginning the meeting after unpacking their ramen noodles and requesting hot water. Houston..we have a problem. The next thing I know we are walking to a separate building and employee 1 is carrying Ms. MD's purse whilst employee 2 is rubbing Ms. MD's shoulders and back in the middle of the parking lot. Yes, the lines are most definitely blurred.

A blog is a blog is a blog by British Seuss

I have to first give credit to my friend Cristen who started me on the whole blog idea. If you're wondering the who, what and where, her site is: http://spenceradventures.blogspot.com
All I can say is GO ROLLER GIRL GO! And no, she's not a character from Boogie Nights and is not married to Dirk Diggler. Well....at least I don't think so. Sorry Spence, no insults intended.

Anyway, the moral of the story is...I have a new job. It's not exactly your run of the mill office job either. It's really an opportunity of a lifetime. I am moving to England to travel the world. Oh yeah, and to run a company too. I am lucky enough to have a husband who's professional talents far exceed the realms of geographical territories. Have laptop, will travel!

So starts the close encounters of a bloggers mind.
